10/5 - MY HAND!!!
- Write 5 things that come to your mind about your hand
- Read through the Your Hand handout (both sides)
- Use a loupe to specifically dig deeper into your hand
- Start listing your observations of your hand in the Writing section of your WW Journal (title it… My Hand!)
You should all be engaged in your WW Journals by 1:15.
Arrange/Create →
- What does it remind me of?
- Lists
- metaphor/simile
- specific detail
- Cycle (starts and ends the same)
- Moved through their hand (started close, zoomed out)
- Repeating (my hand is… )
- Freeform poem
- shape poem
- Tell the STORY of your hand
- ANYTHING
Have students take their lists, observations, notes, and turn it into a poem (see the back of the handout for examples). Have students share a line from their poem at the end.
If students finish early... When done, get out your WW Journal, and create a First Thoughts prompt using the following words: jet pack, monkey, cowabunga, cowbell, cereal, tremendous, and smiley face
Also, not sure if Indigo played this yesterday or not, but this is a great youtube for our field study tomorrow that is worth watching for the first 20 minutes
