2-21

HW due Monday:
1. Read your Civil War novel daily (at least 20 minutes)
...Find 3 facts about your novel's author (knowing about who the author is helps build background knowledge of the story and to better understand the perspective from which the author is writing from)
...Know that starting next week you will get a larger assignment related to these novels... For now, just enjoy reading and connecting to your novel
...If you are interested in getting your hands on a different book check out my previous blog post with a list of other Civil War novels that you could read (but are not available in the classroom).

2. Service Journal
...Pick 2 pages out of the following: 52, 84, 85

Extension... Spend time on this website...http://www.understandingprejudice.org/slavery/index.php

Look at the different president's and the other stories about them that are not always told. Pay attention to how the website sites its sources... Perhaps look into that petition about currency at the end of the survey if you feel so inclined.
