Errol Heights Natural Area (inner SE Portland) – planting for Martin Luther King service day

Saturday, January 18, 9:00 AM-noon

Join Portland Parks & Recreation, the Friends of Errol Heights and other community members plant native trees and shrubs at Errol Heights Natural Area for the United Way/Hands On Portland-sponsored MLK service weekend. Please wear long pants and long sleeves, sturdy walking shoes, and bring a water bottle. Instruction, tools, gloves, hot drinks, water and snacks will be provided.

Meet at: SE Tenino Dr., west of SE 52^nd.   Turn west onto SE Tenino (dirt road) from SE 52^nd and travel about ¼ mile, staying to the left at each juncture.  

Tri-met: Bus #75, SE 45^th & Tenino Drive bus stop. Walk 5 minutes east on Tenino Drive.

Bike/Walk the Springwater Corridor trail: www.PortlandOregon.gov/parks/springwatermap. Exit trail at SE 45^th St. entrance and ride a short distance north and up the slight hill on SE 45^th Place (Harvey Dr.). Turn left onto SE 52^nd and left onto SE Tenino Dr.

Mt. Tabor Park (inner SE Portland) – planting

Saturday, January 25, 10:00 AM–1:00 PM

Join Portland Parks & Recreation, Friends of Mt. Tabor Park and other Weed Warriors community members to plant native plants in areas where ivy and other invasive species have been previously removed by volunteers. Please wear long pants and sturdy walking shoes, and bring a water bottle. Instruction, tools, gloves, water and snacks will be provided.

Meet at: main parking lot on Mt. Tabor (next to the basketball court and ampitheater), accessed by the SE 60^th & Salmon park entrance.

Driving directions: I-84 East to the SE 58^th St. exit. From the exit, turn left onto Glisan St. and then immediately right onto NE 60^th. Drive south on SE 60^th. There is a traffic light at SE Salmon; turn left here and follow the road up into the Park to the main parking lot. OR drive west on SE Division to SE 60^th, turn north (right) onto SE 60^th and then right (east) onto SE Salmon at the traffic light.  

Tri-met bus: #71 or #15, and a walk up the hill.

Join Portland Parks & Recreation, Friends of Trees, Portland OIC students and community members to remove invasive species and plant native plants. The plantings around the “moat” will reduce erosion and provide habitat for native birds and animals. Please wear long pants and long sleeves, sturdy walking shoes, and bring rain gear, warm clothes and a water bottle. Tools, gloves, water, warm drinks and snacks will be provided.

Meet at: West entrance. Driving directions: From Marine Drive, south on NE 6^th. Park along NE 6^th or NE Middlefield Rd.  TriMet bus: # 6
